Waxing at home
what to expect, prep and aftercare

How to prepare, what happens during your home visit, and simple aftercare for smooth, calm skin.

Getting waxed at home is easy and comfortable when you know what to expect. Here is how to prepare, what happens during the visit, and how to look after your skin afterwards.

Normal, D-tan or Rica?

We offer three types of wax: Normal, D-tan and Rica, at different prices for each area. Not sure which to choose? Tell us about your skin when you book and we will suggest one. You can compare prices on our waxing page or in the price calculator.

Before your appointment

  • Let the hair grow a little. Wax works best when hair is about 6 mm long, roughly the length of a grain of rice. Avoid shaving for two to three weeks before your visit.
  • Clean, dry skin. Shower as usual, but do not apply oil, body lotion or cream on the areas to be waxed that day.
  • Skip sunburnt or broken skin. We will not wax over sunburn, cuts, rashes or irritated skin.
  • Tell us about your skincare and medicines. Dermatologists advise against waxing skin where you use retinol or prescription retinoid creams, and for six months after taking isotretinoin. Please mention these when you book.

During the visit

We set up a neat space in your home with sanitised tools, fresh disposables and gloves, and clean protective sheets, then tidy up after the service. If you have sensitive skin or it is your first time, ask us to try a small area first. Each area takes a few minutes, and a little stinging is normal and passes quickly.

Aftercare for the next 24 to 48 hours

  • Avoid hot showers and baths, steam and saunas.
  • Stay out of strong sun, and wear loose, soft clothing over waxed areas.
  • Use a gentle, fragrance-free moisturiser. Skip scrubs for two days.
  • After that, gentle exfoliation two or three times a week helps prevent ingrown hairs.
  • Mild redness usually fades within a few hours. If redness or swelling lasts more than two days, please see a doctor.

How often should you wax?

Most people book every three to five weeks, depending on how fast their hair grows. Waxing before festivals or a wedding? Book one to three days before the event so any redness has settled. Our Diwali checklist and pre-bridal timeline show the best timing.
